Strategic Goals & Objectives for 2010
Goals:
Ensure that identified community initiatives are facilitated in an effective,
economically viable and timely manner.
Ensure that community involvement in developing long-range planning goals and
implementing planning initiatives is focused and meaningful.
Ensure
implementation of community goals through the development of appropriate
regulations.
Objectives:
Facilitate the permitting and
construction of the Upper Sims Way / Howard Street Strategy
and Implementation Plan.
Facilitate the implementation of the
East Downtown Historic Streetscape Design Concept Plan.
Facilitate the public and environmental review process
for the City’s Transportation Plan.
Prepare revisions to the Port Townsend Municipal Code
for consideration by Planning Commission, Council and the Community. Focus areas
for proposed revision will be: Sign Code standards, Uptown commercial design
standards and historic residential teardown, bulk and dimensional standards.
In concert with Jefferson County and the Port of Port Townsend,
develop and execute a joint economic development planning agreement.
Assist Development Services permitting function on a
project-specific basis.
Work with our partners (Port Townsend School District,
County Parks and Recreation, YMCA, etc.) to
improve programs and amenities available to Port Townsend youth.
Initiate process to develop the West Downtown Streetscape Plan.
Revise, in conjunction with Jefferson County, County-wide Planning Policies
(CWPPs) to reflect changed circumstances. (Process to begin in Fall 2010)
Continue to provide staff support
to Council appointed committees including: Climate Action Committee, Housing
Action Plan Network Committee, Jefferson Higher Education.
Develop, in coordination with
Public Works, standards and process for residential street use permits.
Serve on an interdisciplinary
team leading efforts to further incorporate Low Impact Development (LID)
techniques into the city’s development regulations.
