The Port Townsend Police Department is a law enforcement organization whose role is to protect the areas and citizens of Port Townsend and its visitors. The Department's responsibility is to provide assistance to the public and to gain their cooperation and compliance with established regulations, ordinances and laws. Chief Evans is the Police Department’s liaison for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGTBQ) matters.

If you are hearing impaired and utilize a Telephone Device for the Deaf (TDD)/Text Telephone (TTY) and you need to dial 9-1-1 do so using this device. The Port Townsend Police Department contracts for services with Jefferson Communications Dispatch Center and they are equipped to handle calls placed by TDD or TTY devices. Once you have made the call and it is answered immediately begin the process of typing. The TDD / TTY system is integrated into the dispatchers computer screen and your typed dialogue will be displayed on the dispatchers screen and they will be able to start communicating with you right away.

Higher Education Board and their efforts. We facilitate Veterans benefits for those officers we hire
who are eligible for additional funding through the Veterans Administration.
