Upper Sims Way Improvement Project


 

Location

 

Sims Way from Howard Street to Logan Street

     
Description of Work  

This project will improve traffic flow and access to properties with two roundabouts and landscaped medians.  Pedestrian facilities will be improved with new sidewalks on both sides of the street and pedestrian crossings. Bike lanes will be provided as well as a connection to the trail networks to the north and south. Storm water will be treated and detained with ecology embankments and two storm water detention and treatment ponds.

     
Funding  

The City has been awarded an additional $1.6 million in Federal "Stimulus" funds which makes the project fully funded.

Status/Schedule  

Construction on Sims Way will begin September 15, 2009

Construction will be substantially complete mid-May 2010

Below is a 2 weeks schedule of the work to be preformed on Sims Way and within the project scope.  

Week of March 8, 2010

  • HOWARD ST. TO BE CLOSED STARTING MARCH 8TH FROM SIMS WAY TO REMAX BUILDING DRIVEWAY. CLOSURE WILL BE FOR 2 - 4 WEEKS. BUSINESS PARK ACCESS TO BE VIA CLIFF ST.

  • Removing of asphalt on Howard St.

  • Constructing roadway on the North side of Howard St.

  • Continuing to install sidewalks and curb on North & South sides of Sims Way.

  • PSE continuing to install light poles.

Week of March 15, 2010

  • HOWARD ST. CLOSED FROM SIMS WAY TO REMAX BUILDING DRIVEWAY. BUSINESS PARK ACCESS TO BE VIA CLIFF ST.

  • Continuing to construct the outer lanes of the Howard St. Roundabout
