35th Street Park

General Location

Corner of Rosecrans and 35th Streets

General Description

An urban forest of mature native trees with wetlands and a few primitive trails.

History

Jefferson County deeded 6 acres of the park to the city in 1995, designated for development into an active use park with a playfield, parking, restrooms, basketball court, and children’s play structure. The property is currently mostly natural open space with trails with no current plans to develop. Existing wetlands, stormwater management, and neighboring property owner disapproval have delayed the development of this property. In 2002, the City purchased additional acres adjacent to the original parcel but less complicated by wetlands than the original parcel.
