General Location:

Located on the corner of Mill Road and Sims Way.

 

General Description:

The official ‘welcome sign’ at the City limits identifies Port Townsend as ‘A Victorian Seaport & Arts Community’. The official logo for Port Townsend was inspired by the metal cornice detail on the southeast, upper corner of the original City Hall building, constructed in 1891 and is carried throughout the City in official signage. The park was adopted in 2018 by the Port Townsend Kiwanis Club.

 

History:

This 0.59-acre partially landscaped site welcomes residents and visitors to Port Townsend. In 1988, the City added land to the original parcel. The site is adjacent to the proposed forest corridor along the north side of Sims Way. It consists of landscaping, natural area and the City’s welcome sign replaced in September 2013 as part of a National Park Service wayfinding grant. The park was originally landscaped by the Port Townsend Garden Club and features a memorial plaque dedicated to in 1963.
