Police Reserve Program
Want to learn a new skill?
Think being a cop would be fun?
Have a career now, and do not want to give that up?
We have a program for you!
The Port Townsend Police Department Reserve Officer program is designed to train civilians at becoming a police officer with the police department. You will augment the current staff, and assist with many other exciting duties. You will learn to work hand in hand with the City of Port Townsend and Jefferson County Prosecutors Office.
Reserve Officers are used in a variety of assignments, from drug interdiction to bike patrol.
We are looking for qualified applicants with the listed requirements:
You must be at least 21 years of age.
You must possess a valid Washington State Drivers License.
You must be a high school graduate.
You must not have an arrest record.
You will be required to complete an application for employment for the City of Port Townsend. Once this is complete and handed in, you will be notified of a testing date (Usually in September or October). Before being given an appointment to an academy class, you will be required to complete an oral interview, a physical agility test, a written test, a polygraph test, and if deemed necessary a medical and or psychological exam.
If you are successful at completing the tests, you will be given an appointment to the Reserve Academy. This will require a tremendous amount of commitment on your part. The academy is 16 weeks long, and attendance is MANDATORY. (Tuesday and Thursday evenings and all day Saturday)
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who is seeking a career in law enforcement or who is civic minded and wants to help their community.
If you are interested, call me.
